MARCUS ALERT SYSTEM

In accordance with § 9.1-193 Code of VA, the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office has established a voluntary database to assist first responders while responding to mental health incidents.  Individuals wishing to participate in this program can complete the form below and submit a copy to the sheriff’s office either in person, by mail, or to our email address at gcso@goochlandva.us.  This information will be entered into our computer-aided dispatch system so that first responders can be alerted to pertinent mental health information regarding an individual who may be in crisis.  It is important to note that this database will be maintained locally and is only accessible by first responders within Goochland County.

Additionally, the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with RapidSOS.  RapidSOS is an emergency technology company that provides pertinent information to a PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) when an individual dials 9-1-1 from a cellular device.  RapidSOS has established a website at emergencyprofile.org where individuals can create a profile that includes their pertinent medical information, such as mental health issues, that would be made available to any PSAP in which a cellular 9-1-1 call is placed, so long as that PSAP is partnered with RapidSOS.  Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free emergency health profile and to keep it up-to-date so that first responders can use it to provide the best service possible.
